I’m privileged and proud to stand in solidarity with Jer’s Vision on this International Day of Pink against bullying, discrimination, homophobia, and transphobia in schools and communities. As Ontario’s only Out LGBTQ MP in the current House of Commons, I’ve been fortunate to work with Jer’s Vision on initiatives like Rainbow Day on the Hill, a political job shadowing program for LGBT youth, and on the campaign to repeal section 159 of the Criminal Code which unconstitutionally discriminates against members of the LGBTQ community. Together, let’s continue this important work to build a more accepting and inclusive Canada.
I applaud the fantastic work being done by Jer’s Vision to eliminate bullying, homophobia, transphobia, and other forms of discrimination in schools and amongst youth. For our part, New Democrats remain committed to speaking out about bullying on all levels to raise awareness and bring about change. Canada can lead the way in making things better.
